POSITION OPENING
Watauga County Maintenance Department is accepting applications for the part-time regular position of Assistant Custodian Crew Chief. Duties include supervising and coordinating the cleaning and maintaining of County buildings, and supervision of custodial staff. Duties also include sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming offices and halls; and cleaning bathrooms. Work also involves shampooing carpet; stripping and waxing floors; and other miscellaneous cleaning duties. Position may be responsible for opening or closing County buildings and parks, and inspecting for safety or maintenance problems. Position may also perform minor maintenance tasks to assist in the repairing of County facilities. Position requires experience in custodial work with a thorough knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment, and ability to operate cleaning equipment effectively and safely. Experience in the use of heavy floor equipment preferred. Position will work 29 hours per week, hours will vary, and some weekend work will be required. Possession of valid driver’s license required. Salary Grade 4, $18.58/hour. Part-time regular County benefit package includes half time health insurance, retirement, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
